My Street

1. Way Home
Street signs are one of the most important things in the street in every suburbs. These signs tell us the directions to our homes. In this image, I captured one of the signs in my street (cromwell cct) by using the elements of compositions; camera angle, contrast and lighting. The camera angle is the obvious one to begin with is street signs needs to be in a higher level that means pointing the camera up in the sky is used for as it justify the actual subject, the street sign. The signs are also contrasted as it was taken late in the afternoon where the sun has already gone down. The environment of the street helped in this composition as it is already in the natural light to be contrasted. By focusing only on the two signs, it brings out the lighting of the image. Because the signs appears to be darker than the sky, the image becomes more effective in our eyes. Dark colours alone cannot be as great as it is except when it is paired with light colour. The reason for this is, by adding a lighter space in the image, it is seen to be an empty colour which out eyes then shifts to more eye catching dark space. And with this, it bring out the words and the pole itself into a focal point.
2. Logs
Logs can create an interesting impact in an image especially when the colours of the logs are balanced within the surrounding. In this photo, the main attraction are the leading line of the logs. This photo shows the compositional of leading line, selective focus, tone and viewpoint. Despite the the rounded shaped of the line, you can still see that there is a a leading line towards the houses in the background. The logs creates these lines that started in front of the lens until to the end of the photo. Selective focus is also obvious as the lens focused on the second log that happens to be almost on the centre of the image. The tone, texture and colours are also obvious as it is surrounded by grass. The tone and colours of the grass and logs are similar to the element of the houses. The colour brown, cream and green are the ones you can pick up straight away. And for the texture, the logs seems smooth when observes on the second one. The last thing is the viewpoint of the camera. In this photo, the camera has to be in the same level with the logs to be able to follow along that leading line.

3. Minty
Fences have natural shaping and lines in them that taking a photo can't be hard. In this photo, it features a lined fence with a touch of green plant in the side. With this, the compositional techniques are, centre of interest, colour and texture. The centre of interest is always the one that catches the viewers attention. The green plant in this image is the cetre of interest. The way the subject is placed is not in the centre but it is the one that catches the viewers eyes. But this image also shows a focal point that is surprisingly not the green plant. The camera is focused in a different area where the plant is blurry and the fence if clear, the focal point. The small area of the focused fence brings out the texture of it, the roughness and hardness. This can easily be seen along with the colours used. Brown and green are brings out a completely different moods but are combined well in a theme of nature. Brown of the trees and green of the grass and leaves.
4. LeadingPathway
The pathway is simply the path to your destination. This part of the street can only mean one thing, the leading line. The main focus in this image is the leading line. It is accompanied with colours, camera angle and balance and symmetry. In this photo, the line is the first thing you see and considering that it is a pathway, it brings out the technique of leading the viewers eyes to a distance. This leading line does not leads to a centre of interest or focal point it shows us the length of the path. In the sides of the path, bright colours from the plants captures our eyes and makes the path looks more alive than before. The colours of orange and green brought up the concept in an interesting way for as it pops out in the photo. The second obvious technique is the symetrical shape between the trees in each sides of the path. This becomes effective because leading lines and symmetry are balanced togther to form a long centre of interest pathway.

5. Cromwell Circuit
Wooden signs creates a vintage concept, the reason why they are always interesting to capture. The compositinal techniques within this photo are, camera angle, contrast and texture. The camera angle in this photo is towards the right. Because the signs are long and in a ground level, it is just right to take the photo from the side. In that case, it focuses and have the focal point in an area in front of the camera. By ths, the viewers can clearly see the colour and the texture of the wood. The colour brown and white pops out even thought they are plain colours, it is because of the sorrounding. As seen in the sides, there are green and yellow. Adding to that, the texture is the most noticeable part for as the focal point was the wood.
6. Tranquil Road
Roads are great example for leading lines and camera angles. The lines in this does not lead us to a focal point but it creates that understanding that the road is distance long. With this, the camera angle is used to position the camera lens in a way that it captures the length of the road. In this image, the camera angle is on eye level but is not pointed directly to the road, instead it is focusing towards the trees that also creates a line. The trees are alined diagonaly with the road that balances the whole picture. This image also used colours to develop an interest to our eyes despite of having no centre of interest. The colour green, yellow, orange and black pops out in the picture especially when they appear to be darker. These colours are well balanced in a theme of nature that establishes the beauty of nature and by this, it brings out a happy mood in the whole image.

7.The Teardrop
The leading lines in a photo leads our eyes to the centre of interest and this photo is one of a good example for this composition technique. There are approximately three lines in this image that leads up to the plant. The first one is the straight line of the bushes, the second line is the diagonal line of the pathway and the third line is the horizontal line of the field. All of these lines combines and creates a pointed shape towards the plant. In the image, the plant itself is the focal point and is also the main focus of the frame. This concluded that depth of field is also seen in this image. The sharpness of the plant is the example of this technique for as it is focused and well balanced. Being balance, colour is one of the major element in this picture. The green is the dominant colour wether its light or dark. The colour green symbolises nature and it brings out a realaxing feeling. This elememnt helps out to bring the freshness of the plant along with its water drops. Because the surrounding is wet from the rain, the image is more interesting to the whole concept for as the colour green is darker and the water droplets creates a dazzling final touch.
8. Cold Street
Dark shadows in an image can bring out the true beauty of the environment. Considering that it is dark, it creates more meaning and great impacts to the viewers once your mind shifts into it. In this image, it is all about the contrast of the subjects. The trees are so constracted that it appears as a black sahdow in the whole frame. With this technique, it develops a silhouette kind of effect to the trees and the other plants in the image. The colour green and yellow are the colour that have a pinch of happiness. But this colours are dominated by the dark once for they create more impact in the viewers eyes because they take almost all of the space in the image. Adding to that, the ligthing is seen to be low as the sky in the background is almost white. The sky appears to be lighter and simple that contributes to the whole concept by bringing out the dark colours over the light once.

Adrian Donoghue
Adrian Donoghue is an urban landscape photographer. He mainly focuses in photoshop style and is featured in every photos he had taken.
Three of his successful photos are, Gaurdians of the City, Patriot and The Boarding.

Guardians of the City
In this image, the centre of interest is shown exactly in the middle of the frame, the man and the buildings ahead. To capture the centre of interest, compositional techniques are combined in a way that creates the photo more effective. Some of the really obvious compositional techniques are, leading line, lighting, framing and balance and symmetry.
The leading line always leads us somewhere, in this case, it leads us to the man standing in front of the city buildings, the centre of interest. The photo shows a really noticeable leading line as it used the most straight bricks in the the middle of the image. Not only this image is framed by the two statues of both sides, they are also balanced and symmetry, what happens in the other said, happens in the other.
The angle of lighting of this image affects the appearance of the figures of the whole subject as it creates the image more meaningful by its soft lighting effects along with nice textures. As seen, the light is focused in the middle of the frame where the centre of interest lays on. Adrian created a narrative concept by featuring the centre light in its position where it shines all the objects in the photo. With this, he had manage to have shady and light areas that reflects the mood in the image which is peacefulness. Because of the soft texture of the image, we can also tell that the atmosphere is motionless and peaceful.
Overall, the way Adrian set up this whole image is from a far where he can capture the whole image that creates a nice understanding of the whole concept, featuring the centre of interest first by the leading line as he continued to give more views for the viewers to see that leads us to the framing and the balance of symmetry. Moods were created and was captured well in his final image, the feeling of motionless and peacefulness.

The Patriot
In this image, there are a couple of compotional techniques and elements used including, the centre of interest, colour, the viewpoint and camera angle.
The centre of interest in this image is pointed towards the building in the centre of the frame. It is exactly in the middle and in the first half of the whole image. With this, the image is devided into two sections, the building and the umbrellas. But as seen in the picture, what really captures the viewers first is the difference between the umbreallas, the Australian flag. It is a trick that this image has more than one centre of interest and it divided into two images. When looking at the first half, the building can simply be pointed out as the centre of interest because of the blurry surrounding. In the second half, all the coloured umbrellas looked the same, leaving the different one out to pop out of the picture. In this half, it develops a focal point point towards the Australian flag.
The colours in this image are well balanced with its surrounding. The olour blue is the colour that takes up the whole frame meaning that it is also the most contrasted in the photo. By the use of this colour, it develops that cold and calm feeling in the viewers eyes. This is helped by the contrast and the sharpness of the of the colour. Adrian simply simply edited it in a way that can relates to the whole concept, in this case the rain itself. Because it is raing in this photo, Adrian needed to add more sharpness and definition to the raindrops for it to be seen clearly. The colour yellow of the building contributes to th composition of the image, centre of interst. Because yellow is a bight colour, it is the first thing that cathces our eyes.
The viewpoint and camera angle of this image is mixed between the first and second half. The umbrellas are high up in the rain, meaning that the camera must be at a high level above the ubrellas but is also at eye level when it come to the building in the centre. Adrian focuses the camera in two parts to campture the whole photo. And with this, he had created a well balanced angle between the the umbrellas and the building.
Overall, Adrian captured this whole image by planning the composition and element techniques. He used, two centre of interest considering that he had develop two images in one frame. He then balanced the colours in both and managed to develop an effective image by the balancing the viewpoint and camera angle. Adrain has contrated all of this by the natural environment. rain.

The Boarding
In this image, the most common and obvious technique Adrian uses are the leading line and the colours.
The leadng lines are the most common ones for as this image has more than ten line coming in different directions. The lines are develped not only with the road itself but also with the fencing of the road and the empty space of the end of the image that created a horizontal line. The lines are in diagonal, veritical and horizontal that are all combined to create massive leading line toward the train. Adrian captured these line by planning where they sit in the frame and is balanced in the end. The final result was the he established all the lights that combined into a one leading line to develop the centre of interest.
The centre of interest in this photo is simply the train itself. Not only this, the lens is focused in the train along with its basic elemnt, the colours. The colour is the second major thing about this image. As seen, there are a whole range of colours bombarded in one image. The colours green and yellow are the bright colours he uses along with some blue, white and red. These colours usually represent the mood of the image, calm and relaxing. Because the center of interest is a train, the mood fits well with the concept as trains are one of those transprtation that people would feel the relaxation. Adrian develops all these colours to fill in his final result.
Adding to those compostional techniques, the camera angle in this image is the eye level. The camera is angled facing the train as it visualises the centre of interest. The girl in the side is one of the reason why this is tha angle of the camera. With this camera angle, the girl is seen normally from her position.
Overall, this image of Adrian is about the balanced of leading lines and colours. All the compositional techiques are combined to develop the whole concept of the image.
