Untitled.png

1939 New York City, Harlem. Savoy Ballroom

This is a photo of two young people dancing in the middle of the room with the watching crowd.

The most common technique used in this photo is the is black ad white. By this, the image simply helps to visualize the emotions and facial expressions of each person in the photo. Because black and white is quite a simple technique to apply, it creates more meaningful impact to the viewers. It also helps to have a balance result as the colours are only based on white and black.

Two composition techniques that are seen in this image are, the centre of interest and contrast.

The centre of interest in this image is the girl and boy dancing in the middle of the frame. The two figures are focused and captured in the centre of the image. The centre of interest always shows us more emotions than what is going on in the background. The two people are dancing with their bright smiles on their faces while the people watch in the back. This is a great way of putting them as the centre of interest because simple it catches our attention.

The contrast in this image relates to the colour theme. As the theme being black and white, there are parts of the photo that has to be dark/black and light/white parts. The most contrasted part in this image is the back, where no commotion is happening. It is set up to be most contrast because of the centre of interest appears to be lighter. In this image, our eyes are exposed to the light part more as it is shown in the middle of the frame.

Overall, this image is all about emotions. Cornell achieved this by the use of colour balance and centre of interest.

NYC17613.jpg

1973, El Salvador

This image is a picture of an old woman and two young children standing by her side. The composition techniques applied in this photo are colour/lighting, centre of interest, framing.

Colour and lighting is the most obvious one. The overall colour of the image is accompanied with some natural lighting. By this technique, it creates a meaning and a purpose of the image. The colours simply tell us the emotion of the image, which in this case, sadness and abundance. From their facial expressions, you can see that they are not comfortable of their situation and needing something that can make them happy. Contrast and Lighting is then added to create a meaning of the image. By this, the people are in a lighter part of the image telling us they are the focal point. The contrasted part is simply the background of the frame.

The centre of interest is the probably the most important part in this image. The centre of interest is in the centre, this achieved by the help of lines. There are lots of lines in this image that are also coming in different directions. There are lines from the bottom and lines from the sides. These lines simply create a leading line to the centre of centre of interest of the image. By the use of this, the centre of interest is the fist this that captures the viewers attention.

The last part is the framing. In this image, framing is applied. From where the centre of interest is standing, there is the frame from the door. The three people are framed from top and continues down till the leading lines.

Overall, this image is all about the emotions from the centre of interest. The technique used are always going back to the centre of interest by the help of colour, leading line and framing.

This image shows a groupp ballet students in symetracally in a line. With there leatards, they pose grafully as they hold on the side ars for assistance.

The compositional techniques that are in this photo are the balanced colours, lines and centre of interest.

The colour of this image gave the overall purpose of the photo, graceful and beautiful. Ballerinas are known to move gracefully and insyn. By the used of this technique, this image is captured in a reality of the ballerinas. This means that that it shows us the way they move and interest with audience in their performances. The black and white balanced this picture in a way they are most seen in their performances. The imapact of the colour for this image also creates meaning to the viewers. the meaning of what they are trying to protray in the stage.

The second technique is the lines/ leading lines. as seen in the mage, they are a range of lines but the most obvious one is the one leading to the mirror at the end of the room. The mirror acts like a frame and as the line from the side bars are lading towards it.

The centre of interst of this image are the ballerinas. They are the one who are most focused and are the ones that catches the viewers attention. Without anything in the room besides them, they are the ones that pops up and creates are the ones that creates impact to the viewers eyes as a whole frame.

Overall, this image is about the character of the centre interest, ballerins. This is created by the used of balanced colour, lineas and centre of interest.
